Terry Yeast Hired as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at GRC High School

CCPS would like to welcome Terry Yeast as the new assistant principal and athletic director at George Rogers Clark High School! Yeast is a 1988 graduate of Harrodsburg High School where he excelled in track, football, and basketball.  He then accepted a football scholarship at Morehead State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Radio-TV Broadcasting.  After undergraduate, he attended Kentucky State University and Centre College where he completed his student teaching in elementary education.

While at Centre, Yeast was the Head Men’s and Women’s Track Coach and Asst. Football Coach.  Yeast left Centre to become the Defensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at KSU.  He returned to his alma mater in 2003 to become the head coach for both track & field and football.  After the merger of Harrodsburg and Mercer County, Yeast became the District Athletic Director for Mercer County Schools before moving into the position of assistant principal at Mercer County Senior High School, where he oversaw discipline and attendance. He also served as the interim principal for a period of time.  While at HHS, he completed his Master’s degree at Eastern Kentucky University in Instructional Leadership.  In 2014, he received his Rank 1 certification as a Director of Pupil Personnel from the University of the Cumberlands. Throughout his educational career, Yeast has been instrumental in MTSS implementation, both academic and behavior, at the high school level.  This experience in academic and behavioral structures has contributed to great success and will be an asset to GRC in many capacities.

In addition to a passion for academics, Track & Field has always been a mainstay in Yeast’s life.  He has experienced this great sport as an athlete, coach, and certified KHSAA & USATF official.  Coach Yeast took over the Titans’ track program in 2016.  He has won seven state championships in track and field and over 79 individual state champions and record breakers.  Because of his love for the sport, Yeast committed to getting certified to officiate track meets.  He is currently a USATF Master Track Official.  Three of his greatest moments in officiating came when he was selected as an umpire at both the 2012 and 2016 USA Olympic Trials and as a horizontal jumps official at the 2021 USA Olympic Trials.

Since 2010, Yeast has officiated 27 national track championships on the high school, junior/senior, and masters’ levels.  On July 5, Yeast will be traveling to Eugene, Oregon to officiate the 2023 USA U-20 and Senior Outdoor National championships as a horizontal jumps official.  This meet is the qualifier for this year’s World Track Championships later this summer.

Yeast is married to the former Tiffany Ford of St. Louis, MO.  They have three children, Trinity (22), Timberlynn (18), and Teigh (15).  Tiffany is a Human Resources Administrative Branch Manager for the Kentucky Department of Education.  Trinity is a licensed hairstylist.  Timberlynn will be a freshman at Marshall where she is on a basketball scholarship.   Teigh will be a sophomore this fall.

Terry is very active in his church and the Harrodsburg community.

Yeast said, “I am extremely excited to begin this awesome journey at GRC.  I look forward to working with the staff, student-athletes, coaches, and community.  Together, we will strive to make Clark County Schools the best ever.  It is what our students deserve!”
