Luke Toy Hired as Principal of George Rogers Clark HS

Clark County Public Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Luke Toy has been selected as the new principal at George Rogers Clark High School!

Mr. Toy began his career in education in Clark County at Robert D. Campbell Junior High where he spent six years as a 7th & 8th grade science teacher. At RDC, he was involved in coaching baseball and softball, and he helped lead student and staff development projects, such as Project Lead the Way, The Leadership Challenge, and Sources of Strength. Mr. Toy has spent the last two years as the assistant principal at Mapleton Elementary and as an assistant principal at Montgomery County High School.

Mr. Toy has a myriad of professional and management experience prior to his time in education that brings a broad spectrum of skills to his administrative style. This includes a B.S. in Construction Engineering, an M.S. in Christian Ministries with an emphasis in Counseling, an M.A. in Teaching, and an M. A. in Educational Leadership. Mr. Toy has a strong sense of integrity, a servant’s heart, and a passion to instill value in each individual, ensuring that both students and staff can achieve at their highest level.

Mr. Toy stated, “It is an honor and a privilege to once again be able to serve the community of Clark County and to be a part of GRC. Clark County’s future is very bright, and I look forward to getting to know the staff and students better at GRC and to build on the foundation that has already been set. Together, with the support of our families, staff, and students, I believe the sky's the limit to what we are able to achieve.”

Gary Wasson Hired as Assistant Director of Logistics and Student Services

CCPS is excited to announce that Mr. Gary Wasson has been hired as our new Assistant Director of Logistics and Student Services!

Having 20 years of experience with the Clark County School System, Mr. Wasson started his career as a Mental Health Specialist before transitioning to the Phoenix Academy as the Program Director. He has served students at GRC for the past 13 years.

Mr. Wasson earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Colorado State University and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University. He resides in Winchester with his wife, Brooke. They have three children, Cooper, Clay, and Molly.

"I am very thankful for the people I have been fortunate enough to work with during my time at GRC," said Mr. Wasson. "I am excited about this new opportunity to continue serving the district and our students."

Daren Snell Hired as Director of Logistics and Student Support Services

Clark County Public Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Daren Snell has accepted the position of Director of Logistics and Student Support Services!

Having 24 years of experience in education, Mr. Snell began his career teaching math at Apollo High School in Owensboro while coaching baseball at Brescia College.  He went on to teach and coach baseball at Meade County High for eight years before moving to Winchester.  After coming to George Rogers Clark High School, Mr. Snell taught and assisted the baseball team for four years before being promoted to assistant principal at GRC in 2012.

Mr. Snell holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kentucky Wesleyan College, a Master’s Degree from Western Kentucky University, and a Rank 1 in Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.

Mr. Snell resides in Winchester with his wife, Whitney.  They have three children, Haley, Nolan, and Layla.

“I’m grateful for my time at GRC, and I’m excited to get started in my new role serving the district and our students,” said Mr. Snell.

Abby McCormick Hired as Director of Special Education

Clark County Public Schools would like to announce that Abby McCormick has accepted the position of Director of Special Education for our district! Ms. McCormick began her career as an exceptional child instructor in 2004, working with students with moderate and severe disabilities. After leaving the classroom in 2014, she became a Special Education Facilitator in Clark County. Most recently, she has served in the role of Director of Special Education in Menifee County and Montgomery County.

Abby resides in Mt. Sterling with her 7th grade daughter, Libby. "I am ecstatic to join the Clark County team once again. The opportunity to work with the current leaders across the district, as well as the amazing staff, students, and families is a wonderful opportunity." McCormick explained. "I can’t wait to get started and see what all we can do for our students as a team!
