Clark County Board of Education Prepares for Superintendent Search
The Clark County Board of Education (CCPS) voted to select the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) to conduct the search for the next superintendent. The vacancy will immediately be posted with an anticipated fill date of late September or early October.
Tim Eaton of KSBA said, “There are a few steps that must take place to fill the vacancy. We’ll advertise the position for about 30 days, put together the screening committee that must be organized according to statute, and then work through the process to provide the board with the best candidates to interview for the position.”
Board member Ritchie said that KSBA stands out because “they work for school boards, and I have worked with them previously on searches and with our Local Planning Committee.” Member Richardson commented on the confidence the board has in KSBA. “KSBA is the school board organization and they have vast experience working with boards and understand the superintendent search process.”
The screening committee will consist of two teachers, one classified employee, one principal, one parent, and one board member.
Additionally, the board opened the lone bid for a forensic audit. Board Chair Hendricks said, “This is a housekeeping measure to verify everything is done correctly.” Board member Taulbee said, “This is an opportunity as we come to new leadership to look across the board to see where we are.
